Rico Dredd is the main antagonist of the 1995 sci-fi action film Judge Dredd. He was the half brother of Joseph Dredd that is an ex-judge on Mega City One and became too evil and psychotic that framed Dredd in murder in order to kill him by his hands.
Biography[]
Rico was a Judge until captured and sentenced by his own half-brother Joseph. Finally escaping from the Aspen prison colony, Rico acquires a Judge uniform and "Lawgiver" handgun along with an illegal "ABC" combat droid. Griffin, who secretly engineered Rico's breakout, instructs him to spread chaos throughout Mega City 1. After framing Joseph for murder and sending him to Aspen, Rico assassinates hundreds of Judges in less than a week; he also guns down all of the Council Judges to save Griffin, whom he ultimately betrays and murders as well. Rico then replaces the Janus DNA with his own, mutated batch.
Joseph's flight to Aspen is ambushed by a cannibal tribe, with himself as the only survivor. Calling up all his wits, he kills the entire "Angel Family" and re-enters Mega City 1. Joseph then confronts Rico at the secret Janus laboratory atop the Statue of Liberty. The twins have a brutal fight, which ends with Joseph throwing Rico to his death.
