Gobta

Gobta ｢ゴブタ, gobuta｣ is a Hobgoblin originally from the goblin village saved by Rimuru Tempest. He is one of the first martial art students Hakurou took in since the latter became a Kijin. Gobta lives in the capital city of the Jura Tempest Federation: Rimuru City.

Appearance

Rimuru notes that Gobta did not change the same way as the other Goblins during their evolution to Hobgoblin and actually retains his physical appearance; he is described as looking like a Goblin child. That does not seem to fool other monsters, however, as Gabiru correctly recognized Gobta as a Hobgoblin upon their first meeting, rather than mistaking him for a Goblin.

Personality

Though he's considered a fool, he proves to be a very competent individual when the situation calls for it. His prowess on the battlefield surprises many. He is a natural airhead and an idiot but is a hidden genius. As the Goblin Riders' vice-captain and later captain, he is unexpectedly brilliant; in other words, a heavy sleeper. While he and Rimuru are detained in the Dwarf Kingdom, he sleeps through the entire imprisonment. In the anime, during his fight with Gabiru, Rimuru wonders if Gobta isn't actually a prodigy of some sort.

Gobta shares some of the traits of Rimuru, such as trusting his friends above everything, this was seen when Gobzo was falsely accused by Kirara Mizutani.

Background

During his journey to Dwargon, four months prior to Rimuru's involvement, he was beaten black and blue, then he got picked up by a group of Kobold merchants. If they hadn't found him, he might have died. However, during the entire journey, Gobta showed a great amount of good luck.

Empowerment Arc

Gobta was one of the Goblins Present in the Goblin Village after the Direwolves attack their village and was named by Rimuru Tempest. He went with Rimuru to the Dwargon Capital City to find people that could help them rebuild and make improvements to their Village. While visiting the Dwargon Capital City, both he and Rimuru were imprisoned by the Dwarves because of a minor confrontation outside the City. During his imprisonment he learned how to use shadow magic to summon his Direwolf. After escaping imprisonment from the Dwargon Capital City, he returned alone to the Jura Forest because he was left behind by Rimuru. Some time later Gobta became the Vice Captain of the Goblin Riders.

Forest Disturbance Arc

When Gabiru came to the Goblin Village to recruit them into their growing army Gobta was dragged into a duel with him. After been threatened with eating something Shion made if he failed, he won the duel embarrassing Gabiru in the process. When the Orc Lord attacked the Lizardmen, Gobta and Ranga helped them by rescuing Gabiru. Gobta also took part in the battle against the Orc Lord army General.

Demon Lord Attack Arc

During the Charybdis attack Gobta and the rest of the Goblin Riders were fighting one Megalodon, but couldn't manage to finish it off until Hakurou intervened. Then he said that Gobta and the rest needed a more severe training.

Demon Lord Awakening Arc

Gobta was present when Kirara falsely accused Gobzo of touching her, so he apologized and implied that Kirara was lying. Things escalated and he tried to defend Tempest against Falmuth's attack, but because of the barrier summoned over the city he couldn't keep up against Kyoya and got injured. A couple of days later he was healed by Rimuru. He took part in Tempest assault against the West Crystal Barrier, where he and Rigur managed to kill almost a hundred soldiers themselves, before tearing it and returning to Tempest.

Abilities

Gobta was the first hobgoblin to succeed in summoning a Tempest Wolf and performing Shadow Motion. Before evolving he was able to journey to obtain tools and cooking equipment by walking to Dwargon on foot, in the monster-infested territory. According to Grucius, Gobta is the best amongst the hobgoblins. Despite being a lower class monster, he has genius-level fighting instincts that can win against an elite.

Gobta was among the first Goblins to be named by Rimuru. Despite their close relationship, Rimuru easily gets annoyed by him. He is the only one of his subordinates who is able to address him casually as a reward for the tournament.

Red-Haired Goblina

During Gobta's first trip to Dwargon, he came in contact with a Blade Tiger and had to be rescued by a caravan of Kobolds guarded by some Hobgoblins and a Goblina. Gobta fell in love at first sight, but the Goblina told him that she had no interest in cowards. During Gobta's returning trip he was invited by the Kobolds to join them and run into the Blade Tiger again but this time he managed to save the Kobolds by taking care of the Tiger. After that Gobta told her he will continue to get stronger and bid her farewell.

Story of Joining Sora's Team

Gobta joins Sora's team but unfortunately he sometimes likes to be beaten by Sugino, Karma, Mimura, Nagisa Shiota, Neko-Musume, Togashi, Kaori Makimura, Seiji Sagara, Yukine, Oscar Dragonia, Isogai, Class 3-E, Sakurada, Kawasumi, Jin Rohan, Izumo, Daena, Lukius Bridges, Sento Oumi, Kabru, Chilchuck, Atsushi Tamai, Yami, Kotegawa Yui, Misuzu Gundou, Kouki Amanogawa, Hayato Shinomiya, Nami, Chitoge Kirisaki, Taiga Aisaka, Raphael Walt, Julius Rapha, Nanashima, Erza, Ohkawa, Hazal, Mahiro Yasaka, Lime Latte, Ooyama, and several big part of other heroes as Sora's team from unofficial or official when they are resting from mission, he is always make heroes angry about his saying as troublemaker make heroes especially Mitsurugi Kyouya, and Jin Rohan about his said make Jin, and Mitsurugi very angry to him especially He is sometimes beaten by Yogiri because he is rude but he not killing him for do not make Rimuru, and Rimuru subordinate angry but Yogiri is like several other heroes for beat him with his fist even though he is naughty, but Yogiri, Tomochika, Ryouko, and Carol seeing that Gobta is still more useful for fight, what's more, he is very great, but only his actions need to be controlled by his teachings, especially Atsushi Tamai, sometimes he gets emotional when he messes around he even surpasses Nagumo when he is perverted, making Nagumo allow Tamai to beat Gobta, Rimuru and his subordinates saw Gobta being beaten by hero in human form in very laugh as their entertainment, making Gobta ask Rimuru and his friends to help for heroes calm when angry but sometimes Rimuru, and Rimuru subordinate don't want help Gobta from heroes angry to him because Gobta making noise first while taking a break from the mission, which cause of hero on Sora's team getting angry to him so Rimuru and his subordinates allowed the hero on Sora's team to teaches Gobta as polite lesson to him, sometimes Gobta is a little traumatized, but Shion says that Gobta is worthy and can even be an experimental material for the heroes to train him to tolerate pain, so he feels traumatized by orders from Rimuru and his friends, but he is a sincere man then is still conscious true self for his actions.
