Conan Edogawa

Conan Edogawa (江戸川 コナン, Edogawa Konan^?), is the main protagonist in the manga and anime franchise Detective Conan. His real name Shinichi Kudo (工藤 新一, Kudō Shin'ichi^?) he is a high school detective who shrunk by APTX 4869 now currently living with his childhood friend and love interest Ran Mouri and her father Kogoro Mouri to investigate the organization responsible for the drug that shrunk him.

Background

Conan Edogawa

After escaping from well-meaning but skeptical park security, with nowhere else to go Shinichi runs home. He there encounters into his next door neighbor and close family friend, Professor Agasa. He convinces Agasa of his identity and head inside Shinichi's home to discuss the next move. Agasa warns him that he must keep his identity secret because the Black Organization will kill him and others associated with him should they discover the truth.

Appearance

Conan has dark brown hair which mostly hangs downwards just above his blue eyes, but there are also a few strands that stick up at the front and back of his head. To differentiate himself from his real self, he puts on a pair of his father's glasses on.

Personality

Shinichi's intelligence remains intact even though he has shrunken into a child. As Conan, Shinichi tries to behave like a child. He refers to Ran as "Ran-neechan" (nee-chan meaning older sister, a common nickname Japanese children give to teenage girls and young adult women they look up to), and refers to Shinichi as "Shinichi-niichan" (nii-chan meaning older brother).

Shinichi as Conan remains very close to Ran, who in return is very protective of him. However, because Ran is unaware of his true identity, Conan often finds himself in awkward situations with her, such as when she confessed her feeling for Shinichi to him and when she made him bathe with her at a hot spring.

Conan maintains an extraordinarily broad knowledge of many subjects and trivia that help him solve cases and escape tricky situations. Conan tries to speak in a child-like manner when dealing with adults, but he often gets caught up in the current case and begins speaking like an adult, referring to advanced topics and using reasoning much too complex for a normal child. When this happens, he often tries to pass it off as "something he heard on TV" or "taught by uncle Kogoro/Professor Agasa/Shinichi-niichan".

Abilities

• Intellectual Abilities

All of Shinichi's detective skills carry over to his Conan form, although Conan does not the have the reputation Shinichi had. He repeatedly demonstrates the ability to remember every detail of an investigation or other topics he cares about, and may have a photographic memory to manage such perfect recall so consistently.

• Physical Abilities

Conan athletic ability is carry over from Shinichi and is just as skilled as Shinichi in soccer, but a lot less powerful because he only has the strength of a young child. To make up for this, Conan uses Agasa's Power-enhancing kick shoes. Conan uses signature, powerful precision kick to knock out criminals using soccer balls or whatever substitute is handy.

Carried over from his original form, Conan's singing is often off key which many have pointed out.

Canon Plot Overview

Conan Arc

Shinichi invented the Alias Conan Edogawa when Ran asked him his name. When Agasa suggests that Conan lives with Ran and her Father although Conan was initiated against the Idea before Agasa reminded him Ran's House is a Detective Agency hoping that cases that would be related to the Black Organization come by and Conan agreed.

While walking back Ran's Home Ran asked Conan if he had someone he likes and replied he doesn't Ran then tells him that she has someone she likes. Conan tried to tease Ran that the person she like was Shinichi which she admits despite his faults she really likes Shinichi, but asks Conan to not tell him. This revelation causes Conan to blush furiously as Ran inadvertently confessed her feeling for him

At a game convention, Conan meets a third man in black named Tequila, only to have him die in an explosion meant for someone else. Conan learns about a meeting place from the murderer, but just before he reaches the bar an explosion set by the men in black destroys the place entirely, leaving Conan without any leads.

Sherry Arc

Later on, Conan meets Ai Haibara a new transfer student. On their way back from a case, Ai reveals the name of the pill forced down Shinichi's throat months ago and her true identity.

Boss' Cell Phone Number Arc

After Conan solves a case of serial murders, the culprit tells Conan that the tune created by dialing the phone number for the Leader of the Black Organization is the song "Seven Children" leaving Conan with a horrified expression. Later Conan went camping with Professor Agasa and the Detective Boys Conan discussed with Agasa about the Boss' Email Address which shocked Agasa asked Conan if he intended to send an email to the boss address but respond he won't that he not going to do anything that attracts attention himself. Conan thinks that he can get Detective Wataru Takagi to figure who the number belongs to, however, Haibara stop him and warned him pointing out that investigating this email address would only cause Takagi harm and the others around him. Conan then asks Ai Haibara about the Boss' Cell Phone Number, she warns him that it is a Pandora's Box and that he should never attempt to contact it.

Bourbon Arc

After School Conan receives a phone call from Jodie who tells him that the Black Organization has received a new member codenamed Bourbon and learned that Bourbon assigns to capture the Organization traitor Sherry specifically Ai.

Rum Arc

Conan asked Haibara about Rum but she said that she doesn't know much about Rum only remembers that Rum was the second command of the entire organization and gives Conan vague descriptions about Rum's appearance, some say that Rum may be a large muscular man, some say that Rum has a feminine appearance, another description said that Rum may be an old man.

Black Organization

A mysterious crime syndicate that have committed innumerable crimes. They are Conan's main enemy, being the ones responsible for his condition.

Renya Karasuma

A wealthy man who was said to have passed 50 years prior, he is believed to be the boss of the group Conan refers to as the Black Organization.

Rum

The second ranked member of the Black Organization. Conan had been making various deductions about who the mysterious man was. Rum, in return, was curious about Shinichi Kudo was tasked Bourbon to investigate about the supposed survivor of Gin.

Gin

The one who played a major role in Conan's existence when he administered the APTX 4869 to Shinichi at Tropical Land. Gin referred to Conan as a "sly fox" for nearly deceiving Vodka with almost acquiring samples of his DNA.

Vermouth

A mysterious woman who studied under Toichi Kuroba alongside his mother, Yukiko. She is the only current member of the Black Organization that knows about Conan and Ai's true identities.

Vodka

The main partner of Gin, Conan (Shinichi at the time) pursued him through Tropical Land to where the transaction took place.

Kudo Family

Yusaku Kudo

A world-renowned mystery writer and Shinichi/Conan's father, Yusaku is one of the few people who know about Conan's condition. He has become supportive of Conan's decision to combat the Black Organization and stay in Japan.

Yukiko Kudo

A former leading actress and Shinichi/Conan's mother, Yukiko is one of the few people who know about Conan's condition. From time to time, she would tease her son about his relationship with Ran or about his new Childhood and tends to get annoyed whenever he refers to her as an old lady he's related to.

Kuroba Family

Toichi Kuroba

A world-renowned magician whom lost his life less than 9 years before Shinichi became Conan, Toichi is the father of Kaito Kuroba and the identity of the man Conan (as Shinichi) met 10 years prior. Unbeknownst to Conan, Toichi is both the original Kid the Phantom Thief and his paternal uncle.

Friends & Acquaintances

Ran Mouri

His childhood friend and classmate as Shinichi Kudo. Upon being found by her after being shrunk, Conan was concerned about having been found out by Ran only to be relieved that she didn't recognize him. Whilst staying at Kogoro Mouri's place, the two have a sibling based relationship with Conan behaving as the little brother with Ran behaving as the older sister.

There were many instances where Ran began to suspect Conan to be Shinichi even though she couldn't figure out how Shinichi became so small.

Kogoro Mouri

The father of Ran and his current guardian, Conan initially had a rocky relationship with Kogoro due to the latter being a poor detective. During cases, Conan would use Kogoro as his puppet by using his Stun-Gun wristwatch and Voice-Changing bow tie. This brought upon the reputation of "Sleeping Kogoro" and the influx of cases to the Mouri Detective Agency.

Hiroshi Agasa

Although not related by blood, there is a strong family-like bond between Shinichi and Hiroshi Agasa. Agasa was the first person to know Conan is Shinichi.

Heiji Hattori

An Osakan high-school student who is also a detective, Heiji was the first person to deduce Conan's true identity. From time to time, Heiji would refer to Conan by his real name and almost expose him in front of the others. Heiji acts as a backup to Conan when ever the latter returns to his original form.

Mary Sera

A mysterious middle-school girl who stays with Masumi, she has been wanting to see if Conan can be trusted as an ally.

Masumi Sera

A new student who joined Ran and Sonoko's class and a female High-School detective, Conan initially thought Masumi was a boy until he saw her in the Teitan High School girls uniform. Their actual first encounter occurred 10 years prior when Shinichi was in the first grade in elementary school at a beach. Masumi has been finding ways of uncovering Conan's true identity as Shinichi Kudo.

Sonoko Suzuki

A long time friend of Ran's and a classmate of Shinichi's, Sonoko was the second person to become a puppet for the sleeping detective under the alias "Sonoko: the Detective Queen". Sonoko constantly refers to Conan as "brat" and would at times use him for her advantage.

Detective Boys

Ayumi Yoshida

A young student at Teitan Elementary School and a fellow member of the Junior Detective League. Ayumi as an open crush on Conan which annoys Mitsuhiko and Genta.

Ai Haibara

A classmate of his from Teitan Elementary, she was also someone who played a major role in Conan's being with her being the one who developed the drug that shrunk Shinichi into his current state. Despite distrusting her at first due to being the one who made the drug, Conan soon found a friend in Ai after seeing her true face when she cried about her sister's demise at the hands of Gin.

Since then, Conan has been finding means of protecting Ai from the organization and uncover the means of returning them to normal size. On her part, Ai has been observing Conan to see what kind of person he is and how he has adapted since being shrunk by her creation.

Law Enforcement

Shuichi Akai/Subaru Okiya

Shuichi has been shown to respect Conan's detective skills. Together they hatched a plan to send Hidemi Hondou back into the organization and fake Akai's death. Since his "death", Shuichi has been allying himself with Conan with being allowed to stay at the Kudo residence following the burning of his apartment.

Rei Furuya

A mysterious man who has various identities; ranging from a worker at Poirot, Toru Amuro, to the Black Organization's Bourbon and the head of the PSB, Zero, Conan was initially wary of him due to his affiliation with his enemies. But when he soon learnt of his true identity as "Zero", Conan soon saw him as a formidable ally against the Black Organization. Rei on the other hand sees Conan as a terrifying individual due to his prowess as a detective despite seemingly appearing young. Rei is aware of Conan being the true brains behind "Sleeping Kogoro".

Kaitou Kid

The infamous Phantom Thief and Conan's main arch-rival of the series. Conan was given the nickname "KID killer" as being a major obstacle for KID. The current Phantom Thief KID was shown to be one of the few people who knows about Conan's identity in the Movie continuity.

Daisuke Jigen

A member of Lupin the Third's gang, he and Conan briefly teamed up during the case involving Princess Mira and her family's demise. During the team up, Conan often teased Daisuke by referring to him as "Papa" which often annoys him.

Story of Joining Sora's Team

Conan joins Sora's team with Heiji, Mitsuhiko, Kogoro, Ran, Kaitou Kid, Saguru, Sonoko, Ai, Agasa, Takagi, and his alliance especially though Class 3-E, Ninon, Eua, Hanyuu, Akiha, Shiki Tohno, Misumi, Jin Rohan, Izumo, Daena, Hisui (Melty Blood), Kohaku (Melty Blood), Ren Amaki, Itsuki Tomofusa, Marie Korbel, Naofumi, Rein Shroud, Masayoshi Kimura, Isogai, Nagisas Shiota, Sora, Itsuki Kawasumi, and all heroes just like Heiji, Agasa, Vivian, Ai, Agasa, Vermouth, Kaitou, and others know about him is Shinichi Kudo but Class 3-E, and all heroes have no problem keeping secret from Ran, and Shinichi friend especially Akiha sees Shinichi as Conan like Shiki Tohno still as a child.
