Barbatos, also known as the Anemo Archon, Lord Barbatos, the God of Freedom, and currently as Venti, is a major playable character in the 2020 action role-playing fantasy video game Genshin Impact and the overarching protagonist of its accompanying 2020 prequel manhua series of the same name.
Originally a minor elemental spirit, Barbatos rose to divinity after the defeat of the tyrannical Anemo Archon Decarabian. Barbatos, as the God of Freedom and the new Anemo Archon, molded the land of Mondstadt into a nation ran by its people rather than its Archon. Due to his inactivity, Barbatos was considered the weakest among the Seven Archons. He serves as the deuteragonist of the Prologue chapter in the Archon Quests, serving as the overarching protagonist of the first act and the main protagonist of the second and third acts, and the main protagonist of his own Story Quest.
Over the following two millennia, Lord Barbatos spent long periods asleep and only intervened with Mondstadt when it needed his protection or the freedom of its people was being threatened. When he did visit Mondstadt, it was usually covertly under the guise of a free-spirited bard named "Venti."
Appearance[]
Venti appears as a young boy with fair skin and a slim build. Similar to the Anemo element, his eyes are aqua green which also resembles the sky and the grass. He has black hair with short twin braids that fade into blue at the tips. The blue tips glow neon aqua when he uses his abilities. The form he currently takes is modeled after a deceased friend who perished to liberate Old Mondstadt. This appearance is used for his Statues of the Seven around Mondstadt and the larger statue in the plaza in front of the Favonius Cathedral.
He wears a frilly white top with a corset-like leather midsection, along with teal shorts with gold embroidery, a matching teal cape held together by a deep blue and gold bow. He also wears white stockings with three gold diamond shapes along each leg and a beret-like hat with a Cecilia, which is his favorite flower. He carries a wooden lyre with blue strings and cecilias imbued with the power of Anemo.
Personality[]
Venti has a somewhat recalcitrant, carefree, and playful attitude as well as a liking to rhyming in his speech. He sees a particular worth in music to the point where he names his lyre, saying, "every being deserves a name to be called upon, and woven into a song." He is also bold, not fearing to insult or ignore those who are supposedly powerful. In the game, he responds to Paimon's comments and nicknaming by parroting her.
Venti enjoys roaming around Mondstadt playing songs to his people, most of whom are unaware of his true identity as Barbatos. He is very well-liked due to his musical talent, having won the title "Most Popular Bard of Mondstadt" three times. Venti is also an avid drinker of alcoholic beverages, such as Dandelion Wine and has a high tolerance to alcohol even Morax said that Venti reeked of wine. He is also fine with apple cider. To his disdain, the form he takes causes most bartenders to see him as a minor.
Being a god who is generally absent for prolonged periods of time, Venti has no personal finances; he often resorts to pilfering from the Dawn Winery for food and shamelessly has people listening to his songs buy him drinks in lieu of a payment. For reasons unknown, he is deathly allergic to cats and will not perform unless he is certain none are nearby. In his story quest, it is implied that his constant alcoholism is his way of coping with the loss of a dear friend.
On Sora's Team[]
Venti joins Sora's team with his friends, especially he sometimes stays away from some of the heroes as Cats because of his allergies, making some of the other heroes understand about his own health then he's like stay away from Neko-Musume, Inuyasha, and Kyo Sohma make Neko-Musume, Inuyasha, and Kyo understand then he is archenemy of some of enemy including archenemy of Hazama Honoka that have allergic just like him that stay away from cat, Venti was impressed with using the Miraculous which he managed to borrow by Marinette, and Miraculous holder, including he get borrowing the miraculous snake from Luka, especially when he transformed, he was surprised that Harpa as the snake hero in Miraculous hero form, like a harp was similar to his harp, but as a time turner, moreover, he felt impressed even understood from Marinette, and Miraculous holder especially since he was quite good at using the miraculous snake harp. so well that Luka will lend snake Miraculous to him if the innocent and hero are in danger in certain conditions.
