Aizo Shibasaki (柴崎愛蔵, Shibasaki Aizou), known only by his first name Aizo onstage, is a character featured in Confession Executive Committee, a primary character of the Idol Series, and member of LIP×LIP. He is a member of Class 1-4 and a student of Sakuragaoka High School during the secondary cast's second year of high school. He is the younger brother of Ken Shibasaki.
Appearance[]
- Aizo is a young man with an average (and later more muscular, as of the LOVE&KISS MV) build. He has dirty blond hair tied in a ponytail going down to his lower neck. The rest of his hair is slightly unkempt, with his bangs coming out at the sides and flaring at the edges. Before joining LIPxLIP, he had shorter hair coming down to the end of his neck.
- In his LIP×LIP appearances, he wears a red lipstick mark on the right side of his body.
Personality and Actions[]
- In public, Aizo is an sociable character, chatty and friendly to everyone he meets. Public reports of his idol persona label him as very amiable and popular to approach. However, he's more prone to being irritated, making others butt out of his business by snapping at them, being more visibly angry with Yujiro, and preferring to be left alone. His language is rougher in his off-stage persona as well to reflect this. He is also an impulsive and selfless person, willing to jump into a pool despite barely learning how to swim to save a drowning boy, saving him before Yujiro could. He tries to show his support for his friends through his own means, though he doesn't show it very well and often comes off as passive aggressive when he's trying to help. Despite his rough exterior, he has a soft spot for his friends (as seen when he gives up his stuffed animal prize to give to Yujiro that he won at a tournament) and is willing to go the extra mile to get along with some people. Though, despite Aizo's impulsive and rough attitude, he also knows when to quit something when it gets to be too much, as seen when he and Yujiro were mistreated by the director of their LOVE&KISS musical. However, instead of quitting like he wanted to, he continues because Yujiro doesn't want to quit, and he really thinks about how he can do this play properly while not disturbing other people. He realizes he can just be himself, and he adlibs a performance and shows off to everyone his determination to always do his best, and his sense of humor. His home life may have some part in his behavior; with a mother and brother who don't seem to take their relationships seriously, he isolates himself from them and creates music to deal with the problem. He was not always this way, however; when he was a child he seemed to love both Ken and his mother very dearly before the latter divorced his father. He claims to dislike having to deal with women, which likely stems from his mother's treatment of him and his brother after said divorce.
Hobbies[]
- Aizo loves music, and had a drive to create and sing since he was young. In his off time he listens to music, but he also tried singing and won an award for his efforts. Aizo continues to sing in his career as an idol, but he is not the stronger of the two LIP×LIP members in that department. In the past, he would also create music as well, and was able to play guitar.
- Aizo does not attend a Club in high school, and instead joins the "Go-Home Club" with Yujiro.
Relationships[]
Yujiro[]
- His co-star in LIP×LIP, and a fellow classmate in 1-4. They initially were hard to get along with each other despite their public appearances, and it seems that Aizo is the instigator in many of their passive-aggressive fights. However, Yujiro does know when Aizo is feeling down and vice versa, and the two genuinely find ways to cheer the other up. Their relationship is described as a healthy rivalry. When they became LIP×LIP, Aizo started to want to get to know Yujiro and get along with him and tended to follow him around when he saw him outside of work (such as following him to kabuki practice and around the aquarium). Yujiro has also taught Aizo how to swim after seeing some older boys push Aizo into a pool, though he did this after yelling at the boys to apologize. Additionally, he had even showed Yujiro his special "secret spot" in the park in order to cheer him up and now the two share the special place whenever they need to have a private conversation to either help or cheer the other up. It was after showing Yujiro his secret spot which was at a park in Tokyo that Aizo learns more about Yujiro's backstory, and grows to be much more caring with him. The spot becomes special to them both as it was a place where they helped each other. By the end of their first concert, Aizo realizes that even though the two had their ups and downs, that Yujiro would be by his side. It's a feeling that carries on years later, as it's later revealed that Yujiro is the most important person to Aizo.
- Being partners for so long, Aizo feels a sense of responsibility for Yujiro's wellbeing. He feels guilty for troubling him when Yujiro defends him against a director for the LOVE&KISS musical they were working on, and feels even worse when Yujiro collapses due to overworking himself, not eating nor sleeping properly, and promises himself to do better when it comes to Yujiro's health and making sure he never collapses again. According to an interview by LisAni, one of their songs is a love song for each other, but there seems to be no romantic pursuit at this time, as they are idols. Recently they thought about splitting up because a new member was invited to join lipxlip, but in the end everything worked out and they supposedly declared themselves on stage and held hands.
- Aizo first officially met Yujiro at the music audition they both separately signed up for. As a result of both of their impressive performances, both were chosen as the winners and put on the team that would eventually be LIP×LIP.
Hiyori Suzumi[]
- A schoolmate in Sakuragaoka who shares the same year and classroom, and eventually his manager in idol activities. On their first day of interaction, Aizo treats the girl somewhat roughly, forcefully shushing her about her seeing Yujiro at a police station and snapping at her when she apologizes for thinking she made them fight, calling her a bumpkin. Despite initially not liking Hiyori, both members of LIP×LIP end up growing closer to her when she becomes their manager. He and Yujiro even ended up helping Hiyori prepare for her confession to Asuka, when they were not aware that she was obliviously confessing to a celebrity. (In Heroine Taru Mono!, Asuka was changed out for Nagisa Shiranami, and rather than helping her confess, Aizo and Yujiro both helped her dress up and encouraged her to follow her heart when Nagisa confesses to her and showed full and open support if she accepted Nagisa's feelings.) Despite teasing her, Aizo enjoys spending time with Hiyori and Yujiro, showing up to the New Years shrine to meet Hiyori and then take her to get Yujiro even though he never responded to her invitation.
Ken Shibasaki[]
- Aizo's older brother by a year. As children they used to have a more close and loving sibling relationship, but after their parents' divorce Aizo began to close himself off to Ken, seeing his older brother as something of the same ilk as their mother for his flirting and promiscuity. They do have regular sibling interactions and still live together despite Aizo's schedule as an idol.
- While Aizo is somewhat rough to Ken, he still loves him, but is embarrassed to show it. Even when inviting his brother to his concert at the end of Heroine Tarumono!, Aizo is embarrassed when giving him the concert tickets and tries to act flippant about it, but he also respects that Ken has settled down and is serious about his relationship with Arisa.
Yuko Shibasaki[]
- Aizo's divorced mother, who retains custody of him and Ken. Before her divorce she was a loving and gentle mother, but shortly afterwards she became neglectful of her sons and often belittled and hit Aizo. Aizo used to help walk Yuuko home when she was out drunk and tried his best to take care of her, even though she never seemed to realize or care about this. Aizo's issues with women likely stems from her treatment of him. Though, it is hinted that she supports his idol endeavors and let him and his brother Ken stay in Japan while she moved to France. Despite her abandoning them, Aizo still loves his mother dearly and misses when they were all a happy family, though he denies it to not worry anyone.
ASCANA[]
- Rival idols who debuted around the same time.
Full Throttle4[]
- Idols who debuted before them. They met LIP×LIP through Rei Tamura, despite working in a different production company and act as a "senpai" group for LIP×LIP.
Sena Narumi[]
- Has worked with her on occasion. They starred together in the "Romeo" music video, where she played the princess he and Yujiro's characters fought over, but their relationship is purely professional.
Mona[]
- A rival idol who debuted later than they did. He lent her his umbrella once and gave her advice. Mona and Aizo would later go on to have a harsher rivalry, in which they (and Yujiro) bicker every time they meet behind the scenes. Despite this, their relationship is seen as "close" since they can easily get under each other's skin.
Minami[]
- Fellow idol. Has worked with him on occasion and is friends with him. When Minami is feeling nervous, Yujiro and Aizo do their best to cheer and back him up.
Rei Tamura[]
- The president of the Moebius company. With LIP×LIP being the first official idols she manages as the president, she saw potential in both Yujiro and Aizo immediately. She also thought it would be very interesting to see how they would grow as both people and idols, seeing as they didn't get along very well.
Mayu Uchida[]
- LIP×LIP's official manager. She wants them to stop fighting so much and had not the best impression of the two when they fought at the audition, being the one to break up their fights. However, despite her exasperation towards the two of them, she grows to really care about them and is very proud of them by the time they have their first concert. She does, however, think of them as "crazy" when they hint that they do their kiss marks themselves, and tells Rei Tamura that she understands then why she chose them to be idols.
On Sora's Team[]
Aizo joins Sora's team then he collaborates with the hero in the fields of music, and martial arts especially he is good at speed, and attack even though his defense is still lacking but the hero says that he can improve his abilities making him very happy from the hero's words.
