Abe Haruaki

Abe Haruaki (安倍 晴明) is the titular human teacher at Hyakki Academy, a youkai school. He teaches Japanese, and is the homeroom teacher of Class 2-3.

Appearance

Haruaki is a tall and thin man with black hair and a large ahoge. He is often dressed in a white button-up shirt, a red and black striped necktie, and black pants. He wears a blue prayer bead bracelet on his right wrist.

His casual clothes consist mostly of bargain t-shirts. He seems to have a preference for lighter colors, compared to his brother who prefers darker colors.

He is often drawn with a very simplified cartoonish face.

Personality

Haruaki is a coward. A scaredy-cat that often gets bullied by small children and his own students sometimes, he runs away from many situations where he feels intimidated. He'll even use one of his own students as a shield, that student being Sano Mikoto (who, more often than not, uses Haruaki as a punching bag). Being a teacher is his dream job and despite being a wuss, he works hard to be a good teacher for his students and is quite enthusiastic about it. Haruaki rarely gets angry and is often shown being happy, though he can be a bit of a crybaby and an airhead.

Haruaki is also surprisingly passionate and determined when he needs to be. For example, when helping Tamao, he goes out of his way to learn about cats in order to make learning easier for Tamao.

Another thing he is quite enthusiastic about is sailor uniforms. His love for them is so extreme, being bribed with them can push him out of his comfort zone, and it is questioned if something happened to him in a past life with sailor uniforms for him to have such a deep connection with them. While often called a pervert for it, he actually does not care for the girl that is wearing the uniform; he simply loves the uniform itself, and has ever since he was a kid. As a child, he would often be seen wearing a sailor uniform for boys as well. In Chapter 1 the Principle bribes Haruaki with a uniform to get him to go inside the classroom to teach his students. Other characters such as Sano, Miki Rintarou and Hatanaka Izuna, have also used sailor uniforms to trick Haruaki into do something.

Abilities

Haruaki possesses anti youkai powers, which were passed down to him from his ancestor Abe no Seimei. Haruaki's family owns a shrine, and from generation to generation, someone in the family inherits anti-youkai powers. But as Abe Amaaki mentioned, with every generation, the bloodline gets thinner and the power weakens. Haruaki inherited this power, but they are particularly extra strong despite this generational weakening. The reason as to why they are so strong is currently unknown.

The first use of his power was back when he was a toddler. His twin, Amaaki, and their dad accidentally opened a sealed door that held an ultra-powerful, soul-stealing Shinigami youkai, locked away by their great-grandpa. While this yo-kai terrorized Amaaki and his father, Little Haruaki destroyed the youkai through the door without even knowing. Not even their great-grandpa had been able to destroy it as Haruaki had done. With his powers being so powerful Haruaki never was able to see a youkai, as he would always smite them before he even knew they were there.

Haruaki has little to no control over these powers, so his family gave him a bracelet of prayer beads to suppress his powers.

Haruaki's power activation always seems to happen on accident, like when he first met Mujina, and when Haruaki accidentally activated the power while chasing Maizuka Mamekichi, when the student had stolen the bribe Haruaki got from the principle. While Mujina merely got fried and ended up with an afro, Mame fainted due to exhaustion due to the power burning up his spirit energy. This draining of spirit energy is generally what happens to any yo-kai who come into contact with the anti-yokai power.

When he's not wearing his prayer beads, his power becomes even more powerful and difficult to control, the biggest example of this being shown in manga 8, in the "Abe no Seimei, Haruaki Abe, and Shutendouji" arc. At the end of these chapters, where he momentarily loses the bracelet, his powers are so powerful, Haruaki shocks Rintarou just by touching his face, and he needs to be insulted to make the energy of his attack go down so as not to kill Rintarou's mother.

Another thing to note about Haruaki's powers is that they seem to activate whenever Haruaki has an emotional burst and wants someone to do something, most notably when he's telling somebody to stop doing something to him or those close to him.

Relationships

Sano Mikoto

Sano is the first student to discover Haruaki's powers, and promises him that he won't tell anyone about them. Sano holds a deep annoyance toward Haruaki at first, but grows to respect and care for him like his other friends.

Abe no Seimei

Abe no Seimei is Haruaki's ancestor and the onmyouji that his family shrine, the Seimei Shrine, is dedicated towards. Haruaki is a reincarnate of Abe no Seimei and has inherited his anti-youkai powers. Their names are spelt with the same kanjis but their first names are pronounced differently. This is also the reason why Haruaki's nickname is Seimei, often used by his students.

Abe Amaaki

Haruaki's older twin brother. Unlike his younger brother, Amaaki is more mature and cool. He has a major brother-complex and is often seen talking to Sano about Haruaki's childhood.

Mama-aki

Haruaki and Amaaki's mother.

Papa-aki

Haruaki and Amaaki's father. He is a descent of Abe no Seimei and the current head of his family shrine.

Story of Joining Sora's Team

Haruaki joins Sora's team with his students, and his twin brother, although he is scared, but he is kind and can even be brave, especially Ai Enma, Hanyuu, Yamawaro, Michiru Sagae, Ohkawa, Marie Korbel, and several other heroes become his students then his with his student gain absolute immortality, pain tolerance, immunity to viruses, looping, time travel, and other powers from Eua, and other Heroes when get visit to Sea of Fragments then he is some of enemy of villains, Haruaki is seen by Tenn like Riku Nanase as a careless younger brother, and a stupid younger brother, especially Iori Izumi, and Tenn Kujo is much more annoyed and even beats Haruaki because Haruaki is worse than Riku Nanase, then of his act of giving a red cloth to Beniko Zashiwashiki, make Okano, Yada, Hajime Nagumo, and Mitsuki Izumi giving beat to him because his act quite ridiculous at a certain moment, Tenn annoyed with him at certain moments, even Haruaki attitude surpassed Riku Nanase, making Riku Nanase, and several heroes surprised by Tenn aura into Haoshoku Haki towards him because Tenn suddenly always get dragged by his problems so that Tenn more sadistic to him at certain moments, Kimura, and some heroes as police officers find out Haruaki's pervertedness about wanting to see Zashiki's underwear making him get beaten up by Kimura, and some heroes as police officers from the first until onwards, such as Brook asking what color underwear heroine is wearing today on a mission making Okano, Hinano, Yada, and some heroines beat up Brook, even Tenn Kujo sees him and criticizes him harshly that he is a stupid younger brother more than Riku Nanase as his real younger brother because he is Abe Amaaki's younger brother making IDOLiSH7, and some other heroes agree even Iori Izumi is annoyed with him because Iori, and Tenn always involved with Sano, and most of heroes about his stupid problems, Class 3-E sees him like Korosensei as perverted teacher from the first moment until onwards.
